Though you may not see us during your visit to the hospital, the MCMC Pharmacy Team is diligently at work to ensure that your visit is a safe and effective one.

Pharmacists who work in hospitals:

• Work with doctors and other helth professionals to make sure that patients get the safest and most effective medications.
• Perform important safety and quality checks on medications to make sure patients are safe from harmful drug interactions or reactions
• Talk to patients about how to best use their medications.

How You Can Help

One of the things you can do to help in this process is to always be aware of what medications you are taking. This may mean simply carrying a list of medications in your wallet or actually bringing your prescriptions with you to the hospital. Remember to include herbals and over-the-counter medications. It is also very important that you tell your physicians, nurses, and pharmacist about any adverse or allergic reactions you have had to any medication.
