Though you may not see us during your visit to the hospital,
the MCMC Pharmacy Team is diligently at
work to ensure that your visit is a safe and effective one.
The pharmacists at MCMC work closely with
your doctor and nurses to help maximize your drug treatment.
Drug education; drug/drug and drug/disease interaction
monitoring; drug-level monitoring; new drug evaluation;
pharmacy dosing services; and the procurement, distribution,
and control of all pharmaceuticals are some of the services
provided by the pharmacy department.
How You Can Help
One of the things you can do to help in
this process is to always be aware of what medications you
are taking. This may mean simply carrying a list of
medications in your wallet, or actually bringing your
prescriptions with you to the hospital. Remember to include
herbals and over-the-counter medications. It is also
important that you tell your caregiver, physicians, nurses,
and pharmacist about any adverse (allergic) reactions you
have had to any medication.
